Wat Mahathat which means ‘Monastery of the Great Relic’ is a historical Buddhist temple in Ayutthaya. It was built in 736 AC, with the main prang measured at a height of 46 meters. As the years progressed, the structures of the main prang collapsed one by one. The ruins of the temple are also an impact from the war that took place in Ayutthaya hundreds years ago. This temple has been registered as a national historic site by the Fine Arts Department and is part of the Ayutthaya World Heritage Historical Park.
