Built 2 centuries ago by an ethnically Vietnamese family, this historical buildings is a perfect example of a 18th merchant’s residence. The name Tan Ky, meaning “Progress Shop”, was given to the house to express the owner’s wish for a prosperous business. This is the first old house in Hoi An to be granted the title of Cultural Site by the Ministry of Culture and Information. Visitors are welcome to explore its interior design and old furniture, as well as many relics of the cultural exchanges among the Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese during the late 17 centuries.
