In 1907, the East Asiatic Company began its trading operations on this very locale, transforming it to become the “Venice of the East”. Today, instead of welcoming foreign traders and merchants, Asiatique attracts thousands of tourists from all around the world with its state-of-the-art theme park, shopping complex, massive town square and many more.
