About this Place Of Interest

Mangrove forests have often been promoted as ecotourism sites because they can only be found in tropical and subtropical latitudes near the equator. Therefore, if you would like to immerse yourself in a unique and peaceful environment which is surrounded by scenic beauty, head to the Mangrove Park located at Balai Pengelolaan Hutan Mangrove Wilayah 1 (Mangrove Information Centre) in Denpasar, Bali. The unforgettable journey of mangrove discovery begins when you reach the split gate of the 6,000-hectare park that leads you immediately onto a 1.3km wooden bridge. The bridge is built two metres above ground level. As you journey around this natural park - home to 18 species of true mangroves and 15 species of mangrove associates - there are endless photographic opportunities of stunning aerial roots. If you watch close enough, you will see mangrove excreting salt through the glands of their leaves and you may most likely also spot various animals that rely on the habitat of mangrove swamps. Since the journey around the park takes approximately one-and-a-half hours, you may choose to stop at various huts located along the path including the Spotted Dove Hut, Tern Hut, Whimbrel Hut, Purple Heron Hut, Redshank Hut and Pond Heron Hut. Don’t miss the opportunity to climb the Little Egret Tower as it offers a good view of this mangrove forest.
