The Grand Palace is one of Thailand’s most visited sites, and served as the official residence of Thai monarchs from 1782 until 1925. The Grand Palace is still used for official events such as royal ceremonies and state functions every year. Within its grounds lies the famous Temple of the Emerald Buddha, a royal chapel that houses the Emerald Buddha, a 26-inch statue carved from a single piece of jade.
