About this Place Of Interest

Sin Sze Si Ya Temple is the oldest Taoist temple in Kuala Lumpur. It was built in 1864 by Kapitan Yap Ah Loy(叶亚来), who played a significant role in developing the city into a commercial and mining centre. Just a three-minute walk from Petaling Street, this temple is dedicated to patron deities Sin Sze Ya and Si Sze Ya, who played significant roles in Yap Ah Loy's ascension to Kapitan status during the 19th century. Aside from prayers and and fortune-telling, this temple also functions as a cultural centre for Kuala Lumpur’s Chinese community.
