Taman Alam Lumbini, a natural park located in Berastagi, is home to the Buddhist Replika Shwedagon Pagoda. The name “Lumbini” refers to the birthplace of Siddharta Gautama, or Buddha, in Lumbini, Nepal in 623 B.C. This pagoda is a replica of the original located in Yangon, Myanmar. Completed in 2010, the construction materials used to build this pagoda were imported directly from Myanmar.
