Wat Mahathat which means ‘Monastery of the Great Relic’ is a historical Buddhist temple in Ayutthaya. It was built in 736 AC, with the main prang measured at a height of 46 meters. Over the years , the structures of the main prang collapsed one by one. The ruins of the temple are also an impact from a war that took place in Ayutthaya hundreds of years ago. This temple has been gazetted as a national historic site by Thailand’s Fine Arts Department and is part of the Ayutthaya World Heritage Historical Park.
