Penglipuran Village is a scenic highland village in the regency of Bangli in East Bali, best known for its well-preserved culture and rustic charm. While most of its residents have embraced modernity, the traditional design of its individual compounds has been retained for the sake of visitors, from manicured gardens lining a stone-paved street that runs through the centre of the village, to beautiful arched entrance gates and walls that conceal their houses within.
In this Learning Experience, students will learn about the power of stories and storytelling. It will explore how stories can act as the backbone of a community. In the context of the Penglipuran Village, Learners will discover how communal stories told in the village have influenced the locals’ spiritual beliefs, culture and sustainable actions. This Learning Experience is suitable for Lower Secondary students and above.
