About this Place Of Interest


Located on the hillside of the Qinling Mountains, the Xi’an Louguan Daoism Culture Exhibition Area, or “Louguantai”, is the first Daoist cultural park in China and the world’s largest Daoist palace complex. Consisting of nine courtyards and six palaces, it is regarded as the birthplace of Daoism and land of immortals. The entire park covers sites for sightseeing and informative exhibitions on Lao Zi, the author of the Dao De Jing, as well as shops that feature Daoist-themed goods and books.

In this Learning Experience, you will learn how some ancient Chinese philosophers created their greatest works in response to their historical context, and how leaders in the past used these points of view to govern to their best ability. This Learning Experience is suitable for learners in Year 4 and above. Note: This Learning Experience can be used as an extension of the Learning Experiences for the Shaanxi History Museum (A Blast from the Past) and the Xi’an Terracotta Army (Glory in Life and Death).
